Technical Assistance Centers
Our Experts, Your Outcomes
Most criminal justice policy is set by states, but implementation is often local and comes with many challenges. While state leaders want to help local agencies, they have limited capacity.
That’s where the CSG Justice Center comes in.
We have a team of national researchers and policy experts who have worked in police departments, city and county leadership offices, courts, behavioral health settings, and corrections facilities. By helping states launch and maintain technical assistance (TA) centers for their local partners, our team can help both state and local leaders and practitioners across systems implement policies and programs that make their communities safer and healthier.
What is “technical assistance,” and how can it help?
Our team of national researchers and policy experts can help:
- Identify and implement community- and evidence-driven solutions
- Align and achieve state and local priorities, policies, and programs
At the CSG Justice Center, our technical assistance combines trusted data, practical strategies, and cross-systems collaboration to reduce recidivism, address violent crime, and improve crisis response. Our technical assistance centers focus on goals set by each state or community. In Pennsylvania, for instance, we launched a TA center to expand crisis intervention teams across the state, while in two states, we launched a TA center to better address the behavioral health crisis in jails.
Specifically, TA can include:
- Assessment of state and local policies
- Tailored support to ensure policies match community needs across diverse parts of a state
- On-site consultation
- Reports and research development and sharing
- Data collection and analysis
- Training for staff—from frontline employees through executives
- Peer-to-peer learning
