Zero Returns to Homelessness:
A Collaborative Vision for Criminal Justice and Housing Leaders and Their Partners
- People reentering the community from prisons and jails need one thing most of all—a place to call home.
- When partners come together across sectors and bridge silos, that goal can become a reality.
- You can be part of that homecoming and help implement a vision to transform lives, systems, and communities.
The First-Ever Zero Returns to Homelessness Cohort is Underway
Thank you to everyone who applied for our Zero Returns to Homelessness Cohort. Six teams were selected to participate in the first-ever cohort of this kind and will be receiving free technical assistance and peer learning support over the next two years as they work to solidify long-term reentry housing plans.
Congratulations to The Tribal Defenders Office for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Idaho Department of Corrections, Louisville (KY) Department of Corrections, Michigan Department of Corrections, Natrona County (WY), and Oregon Department of Corrections! We look forward to working with you.
If you are interested in staying up to date on the cohort’s progress and lessons learned, email us at [email protected] or sign up to receive our newsletters to stay up to date on our housing work.
“As someone who understands the complexity of housing issues and the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness, I know how important stable housing is to successful reintegration. The launch of the first cohort for the Zero Returns to Homelessness initiative is a critical step toward addressing these needs and ensuring that people leaving incarceration have a place they can call home.” — Wayne Niederhauser, Homelessness Coordinator, Utah Office of Homelessness Services
