Technical Assistance Opportunities

Reimagining Youth Justice Workforce Innovation Network

The Reimagining Youth Justice Workforce Innovation Network is a new initiative that will support youth justice system officials and partners in developing, studying, and sharing strategies to address longstanding staffing challenges. It will also help create and implement sustainable action plans that will fundamentally transform systemic structures, policies, practices, and approaches.

Hosted by Georgetown University’s Center for Juvenile Justice Reform (CJJR)—in partnership with The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center and the University of Cincinnati Corrections Institute (UCCI) and with support from the United States Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)—the Innovation Network will unfold over a one-year period of online engagement, featuring four foundational sessions exploring strategies to transform systems, five individual follow-up technical assistance (TA) meetings, and two cohort-wide convenings to share progress and lessons learned.

How To Apply

Up to eight county, state, and/or Tribal jurisdictions will be selected to participate in the Innovation Network. Each team will need to submit one online application by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 (in the applicant’s local time zone). There is no cost to jurisdictions to participate. You can learn more about the Innovation Network on CJJR’s website.

2024 Transformative Leadership Vanguard: Cultivating Leadership in Front-Line Youth Justice Staff for Systemic Change

A vanguard is the forefront of a movement, made up of people who have a strong desire for change and who will lead the way in new developments or ideas. Hosted by the University of Cincinnati Corrections Institute (UCCI) in partnership with the CSG Justice Center and Georgetown University’s Center for Juvenile Justice Reform (CJJR) and with support from the United States Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)—it is with great excitement we introduce the inaugural Transformative Leadership Vanguard, a 10-month collective training summit designed for front-line staff with ongoing training and technical assistance (August 2024–May 2025).

The Transformative Leadership Vanguard responds to a systemwide need for transformation by developing organizational champions at the front-line level of juvenile justice. Champions will serve as expert ambassadors, coaches, strategists, and innovators who are prepared to lead both internal and external staff recruitment, retention, and wellness efforts and to develop innovative, research-based approaches to effectively respond to the growing concerns about youth crime and violence. Through a training summit and ongoing training and technical assistance, champions will learn about evidence-based practices, communication, and leadership and how to leverage their skills to reshape the culture, climate, and practices of their agency from within. Cumulatively, this experience will position staff to promote organizational transformation and meet current system challenges head-on.

Up to 10 teams will be selected from state, county, and/or Tribal jurisdictions. Teams will consist of at least three people from each agency (one supervisor, the rest front-line staff). Participants’ tuition is provided at no cost.  However, participants will cover any costs associated with travel to the University of Cincinnati for attendance at the in-person summits (August 2024 and May 2025). Participants should submit an online application by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 (in the applicant’s local time zone). Visit the UCCI website for more information.
